Anglophone Cameroon's first school to combine the American Common Core Standards with the International Baccalaureate philosophy one coherent framework, from Preschool through High School.
AISL's mission is to provide an exceptional student-centred education integrating the American Common Core Standards and the International Baccalaureate philosophy within a caring, inclusive and internationally minded community. In practice, that means every AISL learner gets the measurable rigor of American benchmarks and the inquiry-driven, globally minded habits of mind the IB is known for not as two separate tracks, but as one integrated approach to teaching and learning.
American Common Core Standards give every grade level explicit, measurable goals in literacy, mathematics and the sciences.
The IB philosophy brings inquiry, reflection and global perspective into how every subject is taught.
Skills and standards build coherently from Preschool through Grade 12, not as disconnected programmes.
The American Common Core provides the academic backbone at AISL rigorous, grade-by-grade expectations in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and the sciences, benchmarked against U.S. standards that colleges and employers recognize worldwide.
Layered onto the Common Core, the IB philosophy shapes how AISL students learn to think through inquiry, reflection, intercultural understanding and the IB Learner Profile. As our High School division matures, students will follow a Diploma Pathway that prepares them for the rigor of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in the final two years, as AISL works toward formal IB World School authorization.
